Käsekrainer is beside the Bratwurst the most popular and mostly eaten sausage at hat dog stands in Austrian cities. Favourite variations are the Kräsekrainer hot dog or cut in peaces with mustard and a roll as a side dish. The Käsekrainer was invented in Upper Austria and consists mainly of pork meat and cheese, cut into small peaces.
In the year 2012 Slovenia was about to protect the name Krainer, since the word describes a geographical region in Slovenia. Austria was about to loose their favourite sausage. In June Slovenia and Austria agreed on the compromise that Slovenia will protect the name Kranjska Klobasa as a geographical declaration and Austria still can call their favourite cheese sausage Käsekrainer.
Comparing the Corruption Perception Index 2012 to the years before, Austria had an increasing deterioration in the world CPI ranking. The explanation for the dramatically high corruption in Austria are the lawful changes in the last year for more transparency in politic and economy.
